BEWARE OF THE WILD BOARS 43
In the wake of the devastating fires that swept through the
Marmaris region a couple of years ago, wild boars have become
an increasingly common sight in both Marmaris and Icmeler.
Displaced from their natural habitats, these animals now venture
closer to urban areas, often in search of food.
While they may seem harmless at first glance, wild boars can be
dangerous—especially when traveling in groups or when
accompanied by their young. Families with little boars (known as
piglets) are particularly fearless and protective, which can lead
to aggressive behavior if they feel threatened.
Most sightings occur during the night, as the boars roam the
streets and gardens, scavenging for scraps. Tourists and residents
alike are advised to exercise caution, avoid feeding them, and
keep a safe distance. If you come across a group, calmly back
away and give them plenty of space.
Stay aware and stay safe while enjoying your time in Marmaris
and Icmeler!
